Gyokuro is the most highly valued Japanese green tea and can be hard to find outside of Japan. It is produced entirely by hand so utmost care is taken with every stage of production. The tea bushes are shaded to encourage a heightened level of caffeine and amino acids while decreasing the catechin content of the leaves. Gyokuro has a beautiful dark emerald green colour, combined with a delicious, buttery, sweet, and complex range of flavours. A perfectly balanced and soft tasting organic brew for the discerning tea drinker.

Origin: Japan, Shizuoka, Okabe
Tasting notes: A green-yellow liquor, soft mouthfeel and not astringent, marine/sea aromas, accompanied by flower notes and umami flavour.
Temperature: 60-70 degrees
Brewing instructions: approx. 1-2 scoops or 2-3 grams for every 150ml of water for 2-3 minute infusion
Gong fu method; 2-3 scoops or 5 grams for every 150ml of water. First infusion 20-30 seconds and then 40-50 seconds for up to 5 infusions.
Pair with: shellfish, raw or cooked fish, vegetables, soft cheeses
